How "competitive" is it to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist?

I'm currently exploring the NP field and CRNA has the most appeal to me. Next would be a NP. The reason I want to become a CRNA is because you help people, school is shorter, and pay is good. Awesome right? But just how competitive will it be? Less than becoming an actual anesthesiologist? Less?
