Looking to find how to unlock oven door on Maytag MES577OAAW?

This happened after cleaning the oven - door will not unlock (12+hours have elapsed), fan continuously runs. I turned off the circuit for a few hours then back on to find an F1 error message. Is there a simple solution to this problem?
