What do you think of this situation? gay issue?

My uncle is gay and he told myself, my mum, my grandmother and my partner that my third cousin who lives in Germany (we live in England) is gay, he said he had told him himself that he was gay. I told him I thought that was weird because I talk to my cousin and he has never told me he is even though I am. I told my cousin that my uncle said this and he was furious that he has told several people because he is not and if his family heard that it would cause problems for him, he swore that he isnt gay, My uncle says he didn't say he was gay, just that he thought he was (so he lied twice) and that I am worrying about a distant relative when I should be worrying about my closer relatives. But my family is of Sicilian origin and even distant relatives are important, only thing is my uncle was brought up in England and thinks like an English man.
