No, I don't agree with this statement. In fact, I believe it to be kufr as it implies that Allah SWT is not here for us, providing for us and helping us in every problem. If you are Muslim I suggest you read your Qur'an for the answers brother instead of looking to kuffar pop stars. Janis Joplin died of drug abuse. I don't think I'd look to her as an example of how to live a fulfilled life. May Allah SWT guide us all on the right path.
