I am petrified of crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to Chesapeake, VA. I am coming from New Jersey and?

need info as to how I can get over this fear if only while crossing. Or does anyone know an alternate route? I will consider smaller bridges, but this structure which is a lengthy 23 miles scares me. Not sure if the bridge is 23 miles from my destination or if that is the length in all..Please someone help!
