IPhone USB DEVCE NOT RECOGNIZED...?

Is the USB cable and apple cable? I had a store brand charger that would give me that message and would take the sound away as long as it was plugged in. Once I forked over my life savings and bought an actual apple/iphone one, it worked fine. If not, then I have no idea how to help you.
