I just bought a microphone and it isn't working?

i bought a microphone for my computer, plugged it into the pink outlet, and it doesn't work. the microphone is a cyber acoustics mc-1060. i've tried recording me talking three times and when i play back the file, it's silent. what's wrong with it?
