NEED URGENT HELP- TRITTON AX720 GAMING HEADSET!?

I have owned my tritton ax720 gaming headset for 2 months now. After playing fine all this time and even earlier today, i turn my ps3 on and the headset to find that there is no surround sound as usual, but the audio sounds distant and tinny, and not surround sound. However if the cord between the inline controller and the headset itself is tediously re-adjusted the surround sound will return but the position that it needs to be moved to changes and its really annoying, how can i fix this?????????
